What services does a Private GP Provide?

A Private GP at The Heriot Clinic can provide you with a wide range of services. This blog post provides an overview of the main services we provide, and of course please contact us if you have any questions.

Medical consultations in person, or by phone or video

If you need a medical consultation, we can offer you a choice of telephone, video and face to face appointments. These can range from 20 minutes to 1 hour duration. The appointment length is chosen by you. You can book these via our online booking system.

As experienced GPs, we are able to assist you with the assessment and treatment of a full range of acute and chronic conditions. We can help you with anything that you would usually consult a Family Doctor about.

Home GP visits

If you would prefer to have a home visit to address your health needs, this is also a service that we can provide. Our home visits are not restricted to housebound patients, you may simply request one if it is your preference. Please contact us to arrange your home visit.

Private prescriptions

As Private GP’s, we prescribe medications on private prescriptions. This allows for a greater degree of flexibility in medication choice.

Blood tests and scans

At The Heriot Clinic, we benefit from access to several leading private laboratories. This allows us to offer you an extensive range of blood tests.

Through our radiology partners, we can refer you privately for X-rays, ultrasound, CT and MRI scanning.

Health checks and screening 

We can provide you with Health Checks and Health Screening. Our Core Health Check provides a judicious range of assessments and tests to provide us with an overview of the present state of your health. It can be fully personalised to your needs through the selection of additional tests. A health check can be very useful if you have not had medical attention for some time. It can be a helpful tool if you are new to our clinic, to provide us with a baseline understanding of your health. Annual health checks can allow us to observe trends in your health over time.

HGV and DVLA medicals

Perhaps you drive professionally, or hold and HGV license. We can assist you with DVLA and HGV medicals.

Medical assessments for moving overseas and visas

Perhaps you are moving overseas for a time. Our doctors are registered with the FCDO and can complete the medical assessment for a wide variety of visa applications.

Capacity assessments

We are very pleased to be able to assist individuals, families and our legal colleagues with Capacity Assessments.These can be helpful when decisions are being made to appoint a Power of Attorney (POA). An Assessment of Capacity is also necessary to determine whether an individual requires their appointed Power of Attorney to assume their role.

Medical paperwork and documentation

We can assist you with a wide variety of paperwork that requires medical input. We are asked to complete Firearm Certificates and Certificates of Fitness for participation in events, sports and competitions. We can complete Camp America medicals.

Cast medicals for film and TV

Scotland has a burgeoning film industry. We can complete Cast Medicals for actors and Crew Medicals for the production team.

Medical services for businesses

We provide an extensive range of services services to businesses. We can undertake Office Visits to a member of your team. You might have a colleague visiting you from a different region that needs access to a doctor.

We are pleased to offer Annual Health Checks for corporate teams. These can be our Core Health Check or can be tailored to meet specific needs. We can offer these as stand alone products, or as part of a wider package of year round access and care.
