APPOINTMENTS
The Heriot Clinic is pleased to offer a selection of appointments.

The principle is simple, book the time you need for the things you want to discuss.
Do not worry if the appointment passes too quickly, further appointments can always be arranged.
NEW PATIENTS
New Patients that we are meeting in the clinic for the very first time are recommended to book an Extended Appointment. However, a quick or standard appointment is also available.

Quick Appointment - 20 minutes
Standard Appointment - 30 minutes
Extended Appointment - 45 minutes

REGISTERED PATIENTS
We are pleased to offer Registered Patients the following appointment options:
​
Standard Appointment - 30mins - The ideal length of time for an unhurried assessment of one complex or two quick problems.
​
Extended Appointment - 45mins - The perfect length of time to thoroughly address two problems, or simply for a leisurely chat or an MOT.
​
Quick Appointment - 20mins - This appointment is suitable for the assessment of one quick problem (eg. An uncomplicated urine or chest infection) in someone without complex background health problems. It is also a good appointment to quickly follow up on a blood test or X-ray result.

Quick Telephone Appointment - 20mins - as above.
(Please note that any Private Prescriptions generated in the course of a consultation or visit will not be subject to additional charges by the clinic.)
HOME VISITS
We are delighted to offer Home Visits. Please contact us by email to schedule one of these.

Standard Home Visit - Within EH4 - Up to 60 mins.
Extended Home Visit - Within EH4 - As long as you need.
​
Home visits can be undertaken elsewhere in the Lothians and West Fife however travelling time will be added to the consultation time and invoiced accordingly.
REFERRALS
We are delighted to be able to refer you to a specialist or specialist clinic of your choice. Please note that referrals incur an additional cost and are not incorporated within appointment or home visiting costs.
PRIVATE PRESCRIPTIONS
Private prescriptions generated during appointments and home visits are included within that fee.

Single or recurring private prescriptions outwith consultations are invoiced separately.
​
(If you have never received a private prescription before, please note that in addition to the price charged by The Heriot Clinic for your paper prescription, the pharmacy will charge you the cost of the drug as well as a dispensing fee.)
INVESTIGATIONS
We have access to a full range of laboratory and scanning facilities. The fees charged by the laboratory vary substantially depending on the number and complexity of the tests, therefore individual pricing is required.
MEDICALS
Because prevention is better than cure, The Heriot Clinic is pleased to offer Health Checks.

VISA MEDICALS
Dr Johnston is registered with the FCDO and can complete a variety of Visa Medicals. Please email the clinic to discuss your requirements.
CAST MEDICALS
We have experience in completing Cast Medicals and Enhanced Cast Medicals for film and television productions. Please email the clinic to discuss your requirements.
CORPORATE SERVICES
We are pleased to offer our corporate clients: One-off appointments, Office Visits, Confidential Employee Medicals, Health Screening, Company Vaccinations, Annual Health Checks and a Business Retainer Service. Please email the clinic to discuss your requirements.

CASEWORK
Dr Johnston is pleased to undertake casework on your behalf. Should you wish to have your notes thoroughly reviewed and summarised by Dr Johnston, this can be done. You may wish this to be done for recommendations, a second opinion or simply so that Colin can know you better for future consultations. Patients can make a SAR (subject access request) to their NHS GP for a copy of their records to be provided to them within 30 days.
