DUTY OF CANDOUR

Every healthcare professional must be open and honest with patients.

If something goes wrong with a patient’s treatment or care, or causes, or had the potential
to cause, harm or distress, services must tell the patient. They must offer appropriate
remedy or support, and fully explain the effects to the patient.

As part of our responsibilities at The Heriot Clinic we must produce an annual report to
provide a summary of the number of times that we have triggered the Duty of Candour
process.

For the year 12/07/2023 – 12/07/2024 there were no reportable incidents relating to the
Duty of Candour at The Heriot Clinic.
